Czech republic Engraving

Written and translated by Tereza Jeřábková

Glass engraving is in Czech lands considered as the finest of all the cold techniques. Nowadays at least two different techniques are used – copper wheel engraving and stone wheel engraving. Stone wheel engraving is much more suitable for industrial production even though it is not so fine and precise. It enables faster production because the glass material is taken off much faster. It does not mean that this technique is not able to produce pieces of the highest quality; especially the flower décors could be brilliant.
